Holiday Spice Espresso Martinis

These espresso martinis are made just a little more special for the holidays with a little sweet spice from cardamom simple syrup. You can buy it or whip up a quick batch of the sweet and spiced elixir and keep it on hand in the fridge for lattes or cocktails! Happy holidays!

Makes 1 cocktail

2 ounces vodka

2 ounces cold brew concentrate (or espresso)

1/2 ounce cardamom spice simple syrup (store-bought or see recipe below)

In a cocktail shaker, add ice, vodka, cold brew concentrate, and cardamom simple syrup. Shake vigorously until chilled. Strain into a martini or coupe glass. Garnish with a sprinkle of cardamom or freshly ground black pepper.

For the cardamom-black pepper simple syrup:

1/4 cup water

1/4 cup sugar

2 tsp ground cardamom (or cardamom pods)

10 black peppercorns (optional)

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-high. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Let cool to room temperature and strain with a fine mesh strainer. Store in refrigerator until ready to use.

Tip: For a more creamy, latte version, add a splash of Baileys!
